Everyone has to start somewhere eh? And a “five page website” is a good place to start!

A five page website? What’s that?

If you run a small retail business or offer services, a web presence, along with a Facebook, Twitter and or Instagram page, will help potential customers locate your business. It helps your ideal client to find out more about the products or services you offer. It helps to draw the web traffic you need to find new customers to serve.

The most important thing to remember is that a website is fundamentally a marketing tool. This is an important concept to understand because when you think about your website in this way, you recognise that a website, like any other marketing initiatives changes with what’s going on with your market.

So, you naturally don’t want your website to be a never changing static thing. In business, you are always learning more about what your customer needs, which dictates how your business moves, adapts to what your services, products, special offers fit your customer.

When you start out, you don’t know what you don’t know. However, generally speaking, the one thing you do want is a website that gives you the ability to grow. You need a website that gives you a way to add pages, edit content, upload files and extend it to meet at least your mid-term future needs. The best solution to provide this is what’s called a “Content Management System (CMS)”.

Depending on your budget, there are a few industry leading systems that could be used. Solutions which are “not too technical” at all. So, they also allow you the flexibility of being able to self-update. I’ll always recommend using one of these, most commonly WordPress (which is a free industry leading and highly extensible tool), based on your needs and budget.

The investment for a 5 page template website package is £249.

This includes acquiring your domain name, creating your 5 page website from a selection of awesome templates, hooking up your Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and also hosting it for one year.

A 5 page website consists of:

  • Home
  • About (the most important page on your site!)
  • Contact Us
  • Your Blog (which is how to consistently talk to your audience)
  • and one other page of your choice, such as “Testimonials”, “Case studies” or “Pricing plan”

We’ll look at websites that inspire you, talk about what sort of vibe you are looking for, your colours and type faces so that I can get started in building yours.

  • Note that I’m not a copywriter or graphic artist, so to build your site, I’ll need from you your copy and logo art.
  • I do not design custom themes, however, I can arrange to get this also sorted for you, which is at an additional cost to the basic package.
  • If you don’t have your logo created or copy written already, again, this can be arranged at additional cost.
  • All the copy you provide will be screened and tweaked if required for SEO to best benefit your business.

And if you want more than 5 pages? No problem, each additional page is £4.99

Other customisations would be additional to the investment for the package.

What else do I need?

Domain Names

If you don’t own a domain already,  I will acquire one for you (naturally, we discuss this!), and your first year’s domain registration cost for any .uk or .com is part of the package. After that, yearly renewal  is at a very competitive price.

  • £6 for any .co.uk, .org.uk, .me.uk or .uk domain for 1 year
  • £8 for a .com or .org for 1 year
  • Other domain extensions are available, prices on application (and would be excess to this package in the first year)

If you already own your domain, we can leave it where it is. You will need to continue to pay for it separately and you will need to add in some nameserver details to point your domain at my hosting. However, for ease of management and to potentially save you  on renewal costs, I suggest that we move it fully over my web hosting.

Hosting

After your first year, using my on-going hosting costs £2.99 per month or £29.99 per year (saving you 2 months of hosting costs.)

  • If you already have a site somewhere, there is no charge to migrate your site to my hosting –  however, if you own a .com /.org domain, there is a 1 year mandatory domain renewal at £8 – this adds another year to your renewal anniversary.

As well as hosting your site, my hosting package also gives you:

  • an unlimited amount of 10GB mailboxes, for free! Having an email that is the same address as your site builds trust with your customers.
  • A free basic SSL certificate.
